(c.1570 - 1630)

Holy Lord God Almighty

(S.S.A.A.T.T.B. + reduction)
Thomas Bateson was organist at Chester Cathedral, and subsequently at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. The current item is the only piece of his sacred music to survive (although items mislaid at Chester Cathedral in the early nineteenth century may yet resurface). His reputation is as a madrigalian and rests upon two published collections.
