"An Anthem for Christmas Day (adapted for the use of Country Choirs), and composed by W. Jackson (Masham)." London, 1848.

Jackson suggested: "In choirs where there is not an organ, the upper notes of the organ part may be taken by a violin or clarinet, the notes below forming a second. The bass may be taken on the violoncello or bassoon." The current edition includes an organ score, and individual parts for violins (2), clarinets (2) and 'cello/bassoon.
Lyrics: From Isaiah

O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain: O Jerusalem, lift up thy voice with strength: lift it up, be not afraid: say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God.
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: And he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and shall carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.
The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice with joy and singing: and they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the goodness of our God.
Amen.
