A motet for Quadragesima from Modulationum quinque vocibus, Venice, 1589.
Lyrics: Latin Antiphon

Videns Jacob vestimenta Joseph scindit vestimenta sua
cum fletu, et dixit:
"Fera pessima devoravit filium meum Joseph".
Tulerunt autem fratres eius tunicam ilius mittentes ad patrem,
quam cum cognovisset pater ait:
"Fera pessima devoravit filium meum Joseph".

Seeing Joseph's coat, Jacob rent his clothes,
and weeping said:
"An evil beast has devoured my son Joseph".
And again, his brothers took his tunic, giving it to his father,
who, recognising it, said:
"An evil beast has devoured my son Joseph".
