Published London, 1815. The text, much anthologised, is usually unattributed, being described only as a reply to one of Sheridan's verses. The attribution to his wife Elizabeth is sometimes made, but so is an ascription to Sheridan himself. Horsley was an enthusiastic early-adopter of the metronome: tempo markings are his own.
