Included in Warren's nineteenth collection of glees and catches, this is one of those catches that is ruder in performance than the slightly risqué lyrics might suggest. This edition comprises a modern realisation, and a statement of the piece in its original specialised format.
Lyrics: Anon, probably the composer

The doctor slept, and by his side,
Close lay his wife, a new-made bride.
She wak'd him, and began to chat
Of this and that.
The doctor, dreaming of his vow,
Said "Shall I rise my dear, or how?"
"How first", said she, "and then rise after."
Oh, how she raised the doctor's laughter.
