From Harmonia Sacra, Frankfurt, 1617. The precise liturgical use of this motet is diffuse; Hakenberger combines two texts: a passage from Psalm 131 (Vulgate), perhaps intended for use at the dedication of a church, set for double choir, together with an antiphon, as a cantus firmus in the treble, appropriate for the installation/commemoration of a bishop, binding the choirs together.
Lyrics: Psalm 132: 1-5
Memento Domine David, et omnis mansuetudinis eius;
sicut juravit Domino: votum vovit Deo Jacob;
si introiero in tabernaculum domus meæ: si ascendero in lectum strati mei;
Lord, remember David: and all his trouble;
how he sware unto the Lord: and vowed a vow unto the Almighty God of Jacob;
I will not come within the tabernacle of mine house: nor climb up into my bed;
I will not suffer mine eyes to sleep, nor mine eyelids to slumber:
neither the temples of my head to take any rest;
until I find out a place for the temple of the Lord:
an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
Consider a high priest, who was pleasing to God in his lifetime and was found to be righteous.
