Setting of the story of Cain and Abel, variously accorded to Sexagesima or Septuagesima. Pub. Magdeburg, 1602.
Lyrics: Genesis 4: 9-11
Ubi est Abel frater tuus? Dixit Dominus ad Cain.
Nescio Domine: nunquid, custos fratris mei sum ego?
Et dixit Dominus ad eum: quid fecisti?
Ecce vox sanguinis fratris tui Abel clamat ad me de terra:
Maledicta terra in opere tuo quae aperuit os suum et suscepit sanguinem fratris tui de manu tua.
Then the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?
Who answered, I cannot tell. Am I my brother's keeper?
Again he said, What hast thou done?
The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me, from the earth:
Now therefore thou art cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thine hand.
