Quelque Frappart, homme de bonne mise,
Avait gagné, à je ne sais quel jeu,
Chausses, pourpoint et la belle chemise
En cett' état son hôtesse l'a vu,
Qui lui a dit: "Vous rompez votre veu".
"Non, non", répond soudain le bon recors,
"J'ai tout gagné au travail de mon corps;
Chausses chemise et pourpoint poursillé".
Puis dit, tirant son grand tribart dehors:
"Ce beau fuseau a tout fait et fillé".

So this Frappart, a regular geezer,
Has in some game, I know not what, won himself
Hose, doublet, and an ace shirt.
So his hostess clocks him in this clobber
And she's like: "You're breaking your vow".
"Not bloody likely" says the good tallyman straight off,
"I got it all by hard physical graft;
Hose, shirt and a slashed doublet".
Then he's pulling out his ginormous tackle, and he's like:
"This comely spindle's done and dusted everything".
