Adagio - Rondo. Allegretto
"Six Sonatas for the Harpsichord or Piano Forte with an accompanyment for a Violin or German Flute. Compos'd, and most humbly dedicated by permission to her most Gracious Majesty [Charlotte] the Queen of Great Britain, &tc, &tc by Jane Mary Guest. Opera prima", pub. 1783. Sonata 6 is unaccompanied.
Born in Bath, Jane Mary Guest was a pupil of Thomas Linley, and later of J.C. Bach. In the mid 1780s she removed to London, but always maintained a strong connection with her native city: she performed at William Beckford's coming of age celebrations at Fonthill, 1781, and at Rauzzini's concerts in Bath in the 1790s, for which she wrote several (now lost) piano concertos. Later works were published under her married name of Miles.
