A motet for Christmas, publ. Prague, 1586.
Lyrics: Anon
Quem vidistis, pastores? Dicite,
annunciate nobis, in terris quis apparuit?
Natum vidimus et choros angelorum
collaudantes Dominum. Alleluia.
Dicite, quidnam vidistis?
et annunciate Christi nativitatem.
Natum vidimus et choros angelorum
collaudantes Dominum, Alleluia.
Hodie nobis de cælo pax vera descendit.
Hodie nobis per totum mundum melliflui facti sunt cæli.
Hodie illuxit nobis dies redemptionis nostræ;
Reparationis antiquæ
fœlicitatis &aeli;ternæ. Alleluia.
Whom did you see, shepherds?
Speak and tell us: who has appeared on earth?
We saw the new-born and choirs of angels
praising the Lord. Alleluia.
Tell us what you have seen,
and announce Christ's nativity.
We saw the new-born and choirs of angels
praising the Lord. Alleluia.
Today, true peace hath descended upon us from heaven.
Today, for us throuhout the word, the skies are made to flow as honey.
Today, the day of our redemption hath shone upon us;
The day of atonement of old
and of eternal joy. Alleluia.
