149349 : Alday (arr.) : Of noble race was Shenkin (with variations) : sheet music
Catalogued as Instrumental

Publ. c.1810.

The air first appeared in the Richmond Heiress (1693) and was possibly a pre-existing tune or, more likely, written by either Purcell, H. or Eccles, J. (co-contributors to the production) to words by Thomas D'Urfey. It was employed in the Beggar's Opera and appeared in dance collections throughout the eighteenth century.
