149482 : Oswald : One kind kiss before we part : sheet music
Catalogued as Choral - Secular (Songs and Concert Airs) (Temple of Apollo)

In 1742, Dodsley published his book of poems (one hesitates to call it an omnibuss) "Colin's Kisses: being Twelve New Songs design'd for Music"; the current piece is titled The Parting Kiss. Oswald accepted the challenge, and printed his settings of all twelve lyrics, under the same title, the following year.
Lyrics: Robert Dodsley

One kind kiss before we part,
Drop a tear, and bid adieu;
Tho' we sever, my fond heart,
Till we meet, shall pant for you.

Yet, yet weep not so, my love;
Let me kiss that falling tear;
Tho' my body must remove,
All my soul will still be here.

All my soul. and all my heart
And every wish shall pant for you;
One kind kiss then, e'er we part,
Drop a tear and bid adieu.
