Catalogued as Instrumental (Military Band) (Temple of Apollo)

The Bedfordshire March - Berkshire - Buckinghamshire - Cambridgeshire - Cheshire - Cornwall - Cumberland - Derbyshire - Devonshire - Dorsetshire - Durham - Essex - Gloucestershire - Hampshire - Herefordshire - Hertfordshire - Huntingdonshire - Kentish - Lancashire - Leicestershire - Lincolnshire

Published 1759. Oswald wrote his collection of marches for use by militia bands: one for each county in England and Wales, with an additional piece for the Tower Hamlets (City of London) militia. They would have been played, with additional drum accompaniemt, by fifes, oboes or clarinets. It is unclear whether they were treated as mandatory, but surviving reprints and manuscript tune books, in both the British Isles and North America, indicate their popularity during the next forty years.
