Bond was one of the pillars of mid-eighteenth century musical life in Coventry (as organist of the church that was to become the Cathedral) and Birmingham. His "Six Anthems in score", 1769 were sufficiently popular to run to six editions. They were written for parishes with organ, (the bass line is also figured) but the composer's directions imply that they could also be performed unaccompanied.
Lyrics: Psalm 34, v.1-4,7,8
I will alway give thanks unto the Lord: his praise shall ever be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
O praise the Lord with me: and let us magnify his Name together.
I sought the Lord, and he heard me: yea, he delivered me out of all my fear.
The angel of the Lord tarrieth round about them that fear him: and delivereth them.
O taste, and see, how gracious the Lord is: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
