From Paxton's "Selection of two songs, six glees and two catches", published posthumously as his Op. 7.
Lyrics: Anon, probably the composer

Go, burning sighs, some kindred heat impart
To fair Matilda's cold and frozen heart.
Celestial Venus, aid a suppliant swain,
Nor let him longer sigh and sigh in vain.
Be hushed my sorrows, cease my tears;
Behold, the blue-eyed nymph appears.
Hence sighs and sadness far away,
For see, she smiles, and bids the world be gay.
