Holder described himself in the frontispiece of his collection of glees, Op. 6 as organist of Bungay, Suffolk.
Lyrics: Anon

Hoary frost bestrews the ground
And the tempests whistle round;
Now we seek the blazing hearth,
'Tis the time for social mirth.

Stir, O stir, the genial fire,
Pile the crackling faggots higher!
Let not winter's rage control
The warmer currents of the soul.

Bring the wine, boys, quickly bring,
Here we'll quaff and here we'll sing.
Merrily, merrily set together,
Fenc'd against the warring weather.
