Allegro con spirito - Andante - Allegro assai
Bates was a frequent composer of songs for Vauxhall entertainments, and it is probable that his "Six Concerto's in ten parts", London 1765, were for the same purpose.
Vauxhall employed instrumentalists expected to play both oboe and flute. Bates calls for the latter instrument in the Andante, but it is no less effective for the oboes, in whose parts it may be found.
