Lyrics: The words by a lady

Longtime in anguish and despair,
I mourn'd the loss of thee, my fair;
Thy name I carved on ev'ry tree,
And mark'd the promise made to me:
A kiss from thee.

I mourn'd throughout each lonely day
And swept the tedious hours away;
But now my soul is full of glee,
And soon my bless'd reward will be
A kiss from thee.

Believe my fair, I still adore,
And absence makes me love thee more;
I boast my chains, nor would be free
While there remains in store for me
A kiss from thee.

But now I mean no more to part;
I bind thee to my faithful heart,
And bless'd each happy hour shall be,
While ev'ry hour yields to me
A kiss from thee.
