"An anthem of thanksgiving for the peace", the peace in question being that secured by the Treaty if Aix la Chapelle, 1748, marking the end of the War of the Austrian Succession. The most famous piece composed to mark that event was Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks.
Lyrics: Psalm 46, v.1,2,8,9,11

God is our hope and strength: a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, tho' the earth be moved: tho' the hills be carried into the midst of the sea.
O come hither and behold the works of the Lord.
He maketh the wars to cease in all the world: He breaketh the bow and knappeth the spear in sunder, and burneth the chariots in the fire.
He maketh peace in our borders and filleth us with the flour of wheat.
The lord of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Hallelujah. Amen
