From "David's Harp Well Tuned", 1753. Printed for retailers in Fleet Street, Nottingham, Mansfield and Derby. About Robert Barber nothing is known except from his three editions of his psalmody (1727 - 1753). This is an example of his more ambitious (unaccompanied) anthem style.
Lyrics: Psalm 39, v.13-15

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and with thine ear consider my calling: hold not thy peace at my tears.
For I am a stranger with thee: and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
O spare me a little while, that I may recover my strength: before I go hence, and be no more seen.
