Richardson was a pupil of John Blow and organist of the Cathedral in Winchester, 1692 - 1729. This anthem was published by Michael Broome in Birmingham, 1758 in "Divine Harmony.... .... ", a collection of anthems by John Bishop (Richardson's successor at Winchester). It was published for country (predominantly organless) parishes. Organ reductions provided here are best reserved for rehearsal.
Lyrics: Psalm 34, v.1-3
I will always give thanks unto the Lord: his praise shall ever be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
O praise the Lord with me: and let us magnify his Name together.
I will always give thanks unto the Lord: his praise shall ever be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
O praise the Lord with me: and let us magnify his Name together.
