Lyrics: Anon
Ce petit dieu qui vole,
Qui met les cœurs ensemble;
Est-ce ciment ou colle
Dont ainsi les assemble?
Pour dire qu'il m'ensemble
Autre dard ne lui faut,
Ni feu qui soit plus chaud
Qu'un regard de m'amie;
Car il part de ses yeux
Soleil tant gracieux
Que dieux et hommes lie.
This little flying god
That brings hearts together;
Is he mortar or glue
Which thus binds them?
To claim that he has kept me together
He needs no other dart
Nor fire that might be so hot
As my g.f.'s glance;
Since from her eyes
Flashes that charming sunbeam
That holds both gods and men in thrall.
Ce petit dieu qui vole,
Qui met les cœurs ensemble;
Est-ce ciment ou colle
Dont ainsi les assemble?
Pour dire qu'il m'ensemble
Autre dard ne lui faut,
Ni feu qui soit plus chaud
Qu'un regard de m'amie;
Car il part de ses yeux
Soleil tant gracieux
Que dieux et hommes lie.
This little flying god
That brings hearts together;
Is he mortar or glue
Which thus binds them?
To claim that he has kept me together
He needs no other dart
Nor fire that might be so hot
As my g.f.'s glance;
Since from her eyes
Flashes that charming sunbeam
That holds both gods and men in thrall.
