Pub. Antwerp, 1598. It is an aphorism that, in French chansons, where there is a sweep there is smut. This edition is offered at original pitch for S.A.T.B. or transposed down a fourth for A.T.T.B.
Lyrics: Anon

"Haut et bas la cheminée",
Criait Gingin un jour parmi la rue;
Et Marion, plus vite que le pas,
Vient droit à lui humblement la salue:
"Hè mon ami, ne vous plairait-il pas
Venir avec gagner votre journée?"
"Oui", dit-il, "je ne m'y feindrai pas
À ramoner haut et bas la cheminée".

"Up and down that chimney" ,
Shouts Gingin in the street one day;
So Marion, quick as a shot,
Comes straight up to him, with a familiar nod:
"Hey, mate, wouldn't you like
To come along and earn a day's pay?".
"O.K.", says he, "I won't mess about,
When I'm reaming that flue, top to bottom".
