Motet for St Cecilia's day, pub. Antwerp, 1555. This edition is offered at original pitch (high chiavette) for S.S.A.T.B. or transposed down a fourth for A.A.T.T.B.
Lyrics: Anon
Cantantibus organis Cecilia virgo
in corde suo soli Domino decantabat dicens:
Fiat Domine cor meum et corpus meum
immaculatum ut non confundar.
Biduanis ac triduanis jejuniis orans,
suam Domino pudicitiam commendabat dicens:
Fiat Domine cor meum et corpus meum
immaculatum ut non confundar.
While organs played the virgin Cecilia
sang in her heart to the one Lord, saying,
Let my Lord make my heart and my body unspotted,
that I may not be confounded.
Supplicating by two or three days of fasting,
she entrusted her chastity unto the Lord, saying:
Let my Lord make my heart and my body unspotted,
that I may not be confounded.
