148536 : Arne : Bid your faithful Ariel fly (reduced accompaniment) : sheet music
Catalogued as Choral - Secular (Songs and Concert Airs)

"The new air in the Tempest, sung by Mrs Farrell in the character of Ariel", London, 1777. The text was commonly inserted into Shakepeare's play in productions from the mid-1770s, and is perhaps by David Garrick or by Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
This edition includes a keyboard reduction of the original orchestral accompaniment; a full version is also available.
Lyrics: Anon

Bid your faithful Ariel fly
To the farthest Indian sky;
And then, at thy afresh command,
I'll traverse o'er the silver sand.
I'll climb the mountains, plunge the deep;
For I, like mortals, never sleep.
I'll do your task, whate'er it be,
Not with ill-will but merry glee.
