Un laboureur sa journée commençait
assez matin entrevit un loup, mussé
en un buisson, qui sa proie pelissait.
Mais quand le jour fut un petit haute,
ce loup était quelque grisart troussé
voire sans faute robe et jaquette
qui, sur la crête d'un beau fosse,
Pelissonait une jeune fillette.

So this ploughman, starting his daily toil
quite early, glimpses a wolf hidden
in a bush, skinning its prey.
But when the day gets a bit brighter
This supposedly grey-fleeced wolf
Is made out, without mistake, to be a dress and jacket
Which Is garbing a young girl
on the rim of an impressive pit.
