A country dance, latterly Morris tune, sometimes attributed to O'Carolan (but the first such attribution was made 70 years after his death). The tune first appeared in collections c.1730: assuming that the title was coined at the same time as the tune (probable, but by no means certain), then the Princess commemorated is Princess Anne of Hanover, Duchess of Brunswick and Luneburg (1709-1759), daughter of King George II of England, whose title was bestowed upon her in 1727.
