Lyrics: Anon

Puis ell' a dit: "Pour cett' oeuvre parfaire

So one day, this blacksmith, old as time itself,
Begs his missus for nookie, and says to her
"I intend, my dear, to hammer the most pretty
Design onto your person".
She, absolutely not uncompliant, replies
That, for her part, she wants to fulfil her obligations.
So while he's banging away, his hammers get loose
And his beater bends like a feather.
And she's saying: "To get this job sorted,
It'll take someone other than you to bash the anvil".
