Catalogued as Choral - Secular (Chansons)

Lyrics: ? Mathurin Régnier
Margot s'endormit sur un lit
une nuit, toute découverte.
Robin, sans dire mot, faillis
sur le lit, et l'a recouverte.
Il trouva sa lanterne ouverte,
mit sa chandelle au plus perfond.
''Robin, ta chandelle se fond".
"Non fait", dit-il, "c'est une goutte''.
''En l'allumant, elle dégoutte,
qui fait ta chandelle fumer.
Vien Robin quand on ne voit goutte,
souvent ta chandell' allumer."
So one night Margot's asleep
on her bed, starkers.
Robin, keeping schtum,
perches on the bed and covers her up again.
He finds her lantern open,
and sticks his candle right in.
"Robin, your candle's melting".
He's like: "Nah, it's just a drip''.
''It (tallow) oozes when burning,
which makes your candle burn sootily.
Come, Robin, when it's not seen guttering,
Your candle often burns brightly."
